2.1 Subject description

The vast majority of tourist experiences and activities occur in tourism destination regions. The boundaries of tourism destinations are often political and can vary from national to local government areas. The core objective of tourism planning and management is to create and support a sustainable tourism destination. This subject focuses on the roles and activities of governments, development agencies and destination management organisations in the management of sustainable tourism destinations.
The subject is a core requirement for the Hospitality and Tourism Management Major, Sports and Events Management Major and the Tourism Management Minor.

2.3 Learning and teaching in this subject
